An Alexandria resident is hoping to find the people who assisted him in a water rescue emergency at Jones Point Park in Old Town over the weekend.
The resident, who opted to remain anonymous, was flying a kite at Jones Point Park on the afternoon of Saturday (Aug. 29). Not realizing there wasn’t a barrier along the Potomac River’s edge, he stepped backward and accidentally fell in.
“At least three incredible people reacted immediately and dragged me out of the water,” he said.
Because the resident lost his eyeglasses in the river, he had trouble seeing the faces of his rescuers. After heading up to the parking lot, two couples lent their phones to get him a taxi ride home to retrieve dry clothes and a spare pair of eyeglasses before returning for his car.
The neighbor is seeking to connect with any of the people who helped him out of the river or assisted in the parking lot. He can be reached at [email protected]. To confirm he is connecting with the right people, the neighbor asks that they mention the approximate time of day or clothes he was wearing.
“I would love nothing more than to properly thank everyone involved, treat them to coffee or lunch, and make sure they receive the recognition they deserve for their quick thinking and kindness,” the resident said.
