Former Hotel AKA Alexandria in Old Town North rebranded as The Satire

As Hotel AKA Alexandria transitions to the Autograph Collection Hotels by Marriott today (Wednesday), the Old Town North hotel has been renamed The Satire.

The Satire, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, features new branding and management as well as Marriott rewards benefits for hotel guests. The hotel is managed by Concord Hospitality and will remain under Electra America Hospitality’s ownership.

The hotel’s two dining offerings are being rebranded as The Wise Fool for breakfast and dinner and the Bad Poets Cafe for casual bites. The Satire also features a Technogym fitness center, movie theater, Pilates studio Lalita Method and over 14,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel will continue to host monthly events like Silent Reading Parties in partnership with Old Town Books and fitness classes on its terrace.

“The team and I are eager for the next chapter of this stunning hotel, converting to the newest Marriott Autograph Collection,” said Stephane Vogel, managing director of the hotel. “We are committed to maintaining the same level of hospitality and care our guests have been accustomed to over the last three years. We look forward to offering all the high-quality amenities our guests know and love, alongside an elevated food and beverage program.”

The building was a former 180-room Holiday Inn when Electra American Hospitality acquired it in 2021 and brought on Italian architect Piero Lissoni to redesign it. After renovations, it reopened as Hotel AKA in 2023.

“We created a unique luxury experience to satisfy the discerning Northern Virginia traveler, and now Concord and Marriott will fully bring it to life as The Satire,” Russ Urban, CEO and principal at Electra America Hospitality Group, said.

The hotel is offering the America’s 250 Celebration package through the end of the year with discounted admission to George Washington’s Mount Vernon, a special Virginia Whiskey Heritage Flight in the lounge, a commemorative America 250 whiskey glass, complimentary e-bikes and valet parking discounts.

The branding change comes in the midst of the Croatian National Football Team‘s temporary stay at the hotel as it uses Alexandria’s Episcopal High School as its FIFA World Cup base camp.

Another Hotel AKA location in D.C.’s Washington Circle will also transition into a Tapestry Collection by Hilton on June 23. There is another AKA-branded hotel at 1710 H St. NW near the White House.
