Alexandria City High School seniors will embark on new beginnings after walking the stage at tomorrow’s graduation at George Mason University’s EagleBank Arena in Fairfax.
The doors open at the arena (4400 University Drive) at 8 a.m. and the student processional begins at 8:45 a.m. for the class that Alexandria City Public Schools calls “the Class that Changes Tomorrow.”
The seniors have gotten more than 2,000 college acceptance offers, according to ACPS.
“To date, more than 600 of the graduating seniors have reported plans to pursue higher education and they have received a combined 2,180 acceptance offers from 700 different colleges,” ACPS said. “The graduating class also has a substantial number of students planning to attend trade schools in fields such as HVAC, dentistry and cosmetology.”
ACHS students, outgoing ACPS Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt and Interim Executive Principal Lance Harrell will speak at the graduation.
This is also the second consecutive year that Alexandria City Public Schools will use Tassel, an artificial intelligence company, to provide automated name-reading services.
The last day of school for seniors participating in internships and service projects was May 6 — a full month before graduation —and on May 22 for other seniors. The last day of school for non-seniors is June 12.
