Friends of Guest House seeks holiday pajama donations for residents

An Alexandria nonprofit is requesting donations of women’s pajamas for its residents who are transitioning back into the community after incarceration.

Friends of Guest House, located at 1 E. Luray Avenue, is collecting women’s pajama sets to provide for its residential program participants during the holiday season. Realtor Maureen Clyne has collected hundreds of sets since starting the annual effort seven years ago.

This year’s goal is to collect 100 pairs of women’s pajamas in sizes medium to 3XL.

“Because what’s better than a new pair of pajamas?” Clyne told ALXnow.

Friends of Guest House’s residential program serves 60 women every year and has helped more than 5,000 women transition from incarceration since 1974. The program provides 30 women from across the region with holistic support and housing in six-month increments every year. Residents are chosen by the Alexandria Community Services Board.

Donations can be dropped off at 9 E. Cliff Street. Pickups can also be arranged by calling or texting 703-967-8884.
