More than a dozen protestors on Sunday demonstrated for the third time in less than a month in front of the North Ridge home of acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf.
The protestors demanded that the federal government end family separation and immigration detention practices and the deployment of federal troops around the country to quell protests.
“We are not going to let him get away with just sitting here comfortably living without shame,” shouted an unidentified protestor. “He is evil, and we are letting his neighbors know. We are telling him, and his own children will know what he does to other children.”
Wolf appeared on CNN on Sunday and told Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” that DHS does not have the authority to carry out the president’s orders to counter voter fraud with the deployment of federal officers in November.
Another protestor who would not be identified said that the protests will continue every other Sunday.
“I want us to keep interrupting and upsetting the calm of people who think that they can check out their jobs on the weekend, while everyone who suffers from the consequences of those jobs don’t get any relief,” the protestor said.
The first protest was organized by Shut Down DC, and the others have been organized by Alexandria residents.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
