An adult male is in custody after gunshots were fired in the Braddock early on Saturday morning.
This was the second incident of gunfire in the city since July 9, and police are investigating whether the cases are connected. No victims were located, according to the city.
The July 11 incident was reported to police at around 12:45 a.m. in the 800 block of N. Henry Street, which is near the Braddock Road Metro Station and a number of Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority public housing units.
Alexandria Police put out a press release on Saturday stating that a suspect with a weapon was taken into custody, but did not release his identity on the grounds that it would hinder the investigation, according to police spokesman Lt. Courtney Ballantine.
On July 9Â at around 6:50 p.m., officers responded to calls that multiple shots were fired in the 700 block of N. Columbus Street, which is about a quarter mile from where the July 11 incident occurred.
“The investigation will consider whether any connection may exist between the incidents,” according to the city release. “Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to call Detective John Brattelli at 703.746.6699.”
The area is also near to where a 17-year-old resident was shot on a basketball court earlier this year. It is near the Charles Houston Recreation Center, Mason Social and Lost Dog Cafe.
