Old Town Alexandria’s Annual Summer Sidewalk Sale returns for 16th year

Old Town Alexandria will host its 16th annual Summer Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, August 9, bringing together more than 30 independent boutiques for what organizers describe as the largest collective boutique sale in the D.C. region.

The shopping event, presented by Visit Alexandria, will feature participating stores throughout Old Town Alexandria’s historic district, with locations marked by balloons and sidewalk signage. Store hours will vary by location.

Shoppers can expect to find discounted merchandise displayed on sidewalk racks, tables, and tents along King Street and the surrounding areas. The event will feature fashion, home goods, gourmet treats, and art from locally owned businesses.

This year’s sidewalk sale welcomes several first-time participants alongside beloved returning shops. New to the event are Eliana Curated, a jewelry boutique; Friends to Lovers, a romance-only bookstore; and Fantastical Glass artist studio. They’ll join established favorites like Red Barn Mercantile, Old Town Books, and the recently opened Old Town Books Junior.

The event extends beyond Old Town to Del Ray, where shoppers can explore “Second Saturday” featuring four markets offering art and crafts, vintage finds, and more.

Shoppers can find more information and a complete list of participating stores at AlexandriaSidewalkSale.com.
