Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Jim Morrison — name a musical icon from the world of rock, soul, and pop, and chances are, Sandy Gibson interviewed them.

Gibson, a longtime Del Ray resident, was also Billy Joel’s first publicist. She was interviewed multiple times for the HBO documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, which premieres on Friday (July 18). Music lovers can also hear Gibson talk about her career on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Stardust Vintage & Gift (1904 Mount Vernon Avenue) in Del Ray.

“Sandy’s stories are so unbelievable, and I felt compelled to invite others to hear about her career and experiences,” Amy Eggers, owner of Stardust Vintage & Gift, told ALXnow.

Gibson is mentioned in the book “Billy Joel: The Life and Times of an Angry Young Man.” In the book, she drove the artist to gigs and even rented him her house.

Gibson also conducted interviews for and co-wrote several rock documentaries, including The Doors: From the Inside and Slash — The Hard Edge of Rock. She was also a production coordinator for The Original 48-Hour History of Rock & Roll, where she interviewed dozens of artists. Her first client as a publicist in the 1970s for Family Records was Billy Joel.

The event is free, but seating is limited.
