🚨 You need to know

Severe thunderstorms hit Alexandria on Friday evening, causing more than 16,000 Dominion Energy customers to lose power at its peak.

As of Saturday morning, nearly 10% (6,570) of the city’s 70,000 Dominion Energy customers are still affected.

Dominion’s outage map doesn’t show estimated restoration times for most areas. Many outages are listed as “pending investigation” or “awaiting assignment.”

Alexandria’s city government is tackling the storm’s aftermath. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities is focusing on clearing roads and removing fallen trees.

City officials are urging residents to keep at least 30 feet away from downed poles and power lines. To report these hazards, call 866-DOM-HELP.

Dominion Energy customers can report outages and check restoration times through the company’s apps, website, or by calling 866-366-4357.

For non-power-related storm damage, residents should contact the city at 703-746-4444 or use the Alex311 system via website, app, or social media.

The city recommends that residents stay updated on power restoration progress through Dominion Energy’s Outage Map.
