Chocolate lovers in Del Ray are in for some disappointing news. Dolce and Bean, a beloved local chocolate shop, is set to close its doors this spring.
The Del Ray Business Association (DRBA) shared the news on Instagram on Friday, February 28, expressing sadness over the upcoming closure of one of the area’s most popular businesses.
Since opening in April 2017 at 2003A Mount Vernon Avenue, Dolce and Bean has become a neighborhood favorite, known for its artisanal chocolates, pastries, gelato, and coffee. The shop’s popularity was evident when it clinched the DRBA’s Heart of Del Ray award in 2021.
The DRBA has praised owner Petros for his warm and welcoming approach. They say he treats every customer like family and spreads generosity throughout the community.
As Dolce and Bean prepares to wind down operations, the DRBA encourages locals to show their support by stopping by the shop. “One of the immediate ways we, as a community, can express our thanks and appreciation for all that Petros has given to Del Ray, is to help him by purchasing his amazing inventory,” DRBA shared on Instagram. “We hope in the coming weeks, his many friends and neighbors will stop by to wish him well and load up on his wonderful Neuhaus Belgian and artisan chocolates, gelato, pastries and coffee”.
While Dolce and Bean hasn’t officially announced its closure on its social media or website, ALXnow reached out to the business on Friday for an official closing date and more details. We’ll update this story as we learn more.
