Alexandria just experienced a brief rush of snowfall.

A Snow Squall Warning was in effect until 4:15 p.m. Friday (Jan. 3), and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m.

There’s also a moderate winter storm threat on Sunday and Monday.

“Significant travel delays and closures are likely, so plan ahead to minimize impacts on you and your family,” NWS said.

National Weather Service says to expect snow showers through the early evening throughout the area, and that snow showers will impact the evening commute.

According to NWS:

Localized bursts of heavier snow showers are possible most likely through 6 p.m., where visibility may be reduced to near one-quarter mile and snowfall will coat roadways.

Precipitation will end early this evening, and temperatures will fall below freezing between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Any standing water or slushy roads will freeze.
