Old Town’s Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe and Wine Bar (109 S. Alfred Street) is taking a dig at neighbor JD Vance after the Trump running mate’s “childless cat ladies” comment.
A 2021 interview in which Vance called Democrats being “childless cat ladies” who “want to make the rest of the country miserable too” resurfaced. Vance also advocated for parents to cast additional votes based on their number of children.
Mount Purrnon, which celebrates four years in Old Town this week, took a swipe at Vance.
“We don’t like to get pawlitical, but since we are JD Vance’s local cat cafe, we felt the need to support our fellow childless cat ladies that bust their butt everyday to make a difference in this world,” the cafe said on Facebook. “If saving cats’ lives is wrong, I don’t want to be right.”
Childless Cat Lady t-shirts, featuring the Mount Purrnon logo, are available for preorder at the Mount Purrnon website for $29.99.
