There are many Alexandria 275th birthday (doesn’t look a day over 200) celebrations this year, but the one on Saturday, July 13, might be the big one.
The party is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison Street) with a fireworks display and music by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra at 9:30 p.m.
Admission is free and there’s no need to bring a gift.
In a newsletter, the Office of Historic Alexandria said:
New this year, we have additional activity and food truck locations and viewing spots for visitors to celebrate our milestone year with us.
- Canal Center Plaza (44 Canal Center Pl.) from 6-10 p.m.
- Waterfront Park (1A Prince Street) from 6-10 p.m.
- George Washington Masonic National Memorial, 101 Callahan Dr.
“In July, the City of Alexandria will commemorate its 275th anniversary,” the city said on its website. “This milestone is not just a recognition of the past two centuries of progress, we will also amplify the shared experiences of our community and the collective achievements that have shaped our identity.”
