This Friday (May 17) is Bike to Work Day, an annual event that encourages locals to bike to the office.

The city and community organizations will operate pit stops around the city with giveaways, coffee and more.

While the city has been expanding its bike infrastructure in recent years, United States Census data from 2022 noted that only 2.3% of local workers (2,303 people) took a bicycle, taxi or motorcycle to work.  Notably: those numbers are almost certainly skewed by the pandemic and were lower than pre-pandemic ridership. Data from 2019 indicated that 4.4% of workers (4,366 people) took a bicycle, taxi or motorcycle to work.
