Witnesses say Arlandria incident was drive-by shooting

(Updated 12:10 a.m.) New details have been released regarding the suspected shooting of a man multiple times in Arlandria earlier this month.

Witnesses to the Sunday, Oct. 10, shooting in Arlandria told police that Rudy Bueso Macedo, a 37-year-old man sitting in the driver’s seat of his truck, drove by and fired multiple shots at people standing in front of the Lloyd Apartments in the 3800 block of Cameron Mills Road.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 a.m., and the victim identified Macedo as the man who shot him multiple times in the lower body, according to a search warrant affidavit.

The victim reported that Macedo was driving a green Chevrolet truck, pulled a gun out of the driver’s side window and fired at him five or six times. The victim said that he tried to run inside an apartment building, “but felt pain in his legs and collapsed,” police said in the search warrant.

Bueso was identified as the ex-boyfriend and father of a woman’s child living in the area. A witness, who jumped behind bushes when the shots were fired, told police that Macedo initially tried to run him over, but that Bueso drove away and returned shooting a short time later.

“The driver, Mr. [Macedo], then began to shoot towards the individuals (standing outside the apartment building),” the victim reported to police. “He stated that his friend, (the victim) ran outside of the building and was struck by the gunfire, but after he… fell, the gunfire continued and the gunman was ‘trying to kill everybody.'”

Police then surveilled the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, and followed her to an apartment complex in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. They found Macedo in a parking lot with her, and he denied involvement in the shooting.

Bueso was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He goes to court on December 13.
