Alexandria businesses offer unique Father’s Day specials

Not to stereotype, but if you know a dad who likes building things and drinking beer — you know, dad things — there’s a couple Alexandria locations offering some interesting Father’s Day gift options.

The first is Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, which is offering the admittedly modest discount of 6 growlers of beer for the price of 5, for a total of $95. The deal also requires purchase of a membership card. The growlers can be picked up in the store at 401 E Braddock Road or by calling 703 683 5330.

One of the other deals is at The Garden, a maker-space in west Eisenhower’s Building Momentum (5380 Eisenhower Avenue).

“As the world begins to open up and in-person experiences are becoming commonplace again, why not give dad a unique and memorable experience this Father’s Day,” the local company said in a press release. “Alexandria-based, Building Momentum and its maker space, The Garden, are hosting an array of classes that will appeal to the tech geek, maker, DIY guy or grillmaster in your life.”

According to the press release, some of the sample classes you can sign your dad up for at The Garden include:

  • Wine and Welding will teach dads how to weld, with the specific goal of creating a wine rack
  • Another class will emphasize making your own drink caddy
  • Woodshop Father’s Day is being held on June 19 for DIY dads who like to work with their hands
  • Custom Grill Welding Workshop will teach dads how to build and maintain grills.

Father’s Day is scheduled for Sunday, June 20, so this upcoming week would be the best point to get the last minute shopping done.
