Renovated pie shop reopening on Eisenhower Avenue

A shop that sells New Zealand-style meat, sweet and veggie pies in Alexandria has renovated its interior and expanded operations.

Kiwi Kuisine Pie Shop at 4548 Eisenhower Avenue has still been selling sweet and savory pies for delivery and pickup, and at the Old Town Farmers’ Market and at Whole Foods in the city and across the country. On Saturday, Oct. 10, the shop will reopen its renovated interior with seating for customers and new morning hours.

“Kiwi Kuisine is excited to reopen our doors and share our in-store pie experience with the Alexandria community,” said shop owner Bert “Ram” Todd.

Kiwi Kuisine Pie Shop first opened in 2007 to share the pies Todd grew up eating in New Zealand. The venture grew to offer its products at grocers, cafes and farmers markets around the region.

The shop was previously open from noon to 5 p.m., and the new shop hours will be Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the new menu now includes coffee and hot breakfast pies.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, and the shop will remain open until 5 p.m.

The grand reopening event includes:

  • Pie tastings from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Pie-Eating Contest at 11 a.m.
  • New Zealand games like a Lolly Scramble and Toss the Boot
  • Face Painting
