ICE Agent Points Gun in Encounter with N. Va. Woman — “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents confronted a driver and accused her of trying to run them over in a Bailey’s Crossroads parking lot earlier this week — a claim contradicted by video recordings that the woman captured of the encounter. One of the ICE agents, dressed in a police vest and a balaclava that covers his face except for his eyes, pointed a gun at the woman while yelling at her for recording them and claiming ‘you almost ran us over,’ a cellphone video posted on Instagram on Monday (Aug. 10) shows.” [FFXnow]
Historic Pendleton Rooming House Getting Renovated — “One family has kept the same home for decades in Alexandria — and now the historic site, which serves as a rooming house for low-income residents, is getting a much-needed makeover. Janice Lee Howard, 80, is the current owner of the home in the 1000 block of Pendleton Street known as the Pendleton Rooming House. Construction Contractor Selected for New Commanders Stadium — “The Washington Commanders have chosen a team of general contractors to deliver a $3.8 billion domed stadium on the RFK campus by 2030. McLean-based Clark Construction Group, Minneapolis-based Mortenson Co. and D.C.-based Smoot Construction Co. will lead construction of the 1.8-million-square-foot, 70,000-seat stadium, the Commanders announced Tuesday. Site work began in June, led by the same trio, and construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2027, the team said in a statement.” [Washington Business Journal]
Union Rejects Metro Policy for Drivers to Quote Bus Fare — “The union representing Metrobus drivers is warning drivers not to follow a rule requiring them to quote the fare to passengers, saying it is putting drivers in danger.
