A new sandwich and wine shop is opening Sunday (July 19) at the Bradlee Shopping Center.
Chord Bread & Bottle will soft launch with complimentary appetizers and wine tastings from 6-8 p.m., right after the end of the World Cup final. The space at 3690 J King Street was previously home to the Unwined wine shop, which closed at the end of 2024. The soft opening was announced on Instagram.
“Whether you’re celebrating the match, catching up with friends, or simply looking for your new favorite local spot, we’d love to welcome you,” Chord Bread & Bottle said on Instagram.
The shop includes a menu of sandwiches, salads and soups to pair with retail wine and craft beer offerings. It also offers catering packages with charcuterie boards and sandwich platters as well as a wine subscription club.
Restaurant owner Scott Shirley also owns Slaters Market (1552 Potomac Greens Drive), which he opened in Old Town North in 2020, and Union Sandwich Company, which opened at 101 N. Union Street in 2023. He previously told ALXnow that the Chord Bread & Bottle space underwent a $150,000 interior renovation.
The maximum seating for the shop will be 12 customers, according to a building permit.
Chord Bread & Bottle will be open Sunday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
