There are more than 50 power outage projects affecting more than 10,800 homes in Alexandria, after the city and region were battered by a severe thunderstorm.
As of 9:15 p.m., Dominion Energy reported 10,833 customers without power across 50 separate projects.
“Thunderstorms may contain damaging wind gusts,” NWS said.
NWS has issued a heat advisory for Friday (June 12), and also predicts severe hail and thunderstorms on Friday night.
The Alexandria Police Department is advising drivers to use extreme caution.
“There are downed power lines and fallen trees throughout the city,” APD said on social media. “If you are traveling, use extreme caution. Avoid the roadways if at all possible.”
