Next ‘No Kings’ protest in Alexandria planned later in March

Following two local “No Kings” protests against the Trump administration in 2025, a third will be held in late March.

Indivisible Do Something Alexandria will host the No Kings 3 protest on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. along northbound Richmond Highway from Powhatan Park to the Potomac Yard Shopping Center. The Alexandria event will be part of the third round of nationwide “No Kings” rallies.

Thousands had attended the last “No Kings” events outside City Hall and lining Route 1 in October 2025. Elected officials had attended the October event as well as the city’s first No Kings rally in June. Organizers have not confirmed if any elected officials will be attending No Kings 3.

This month’s event will be held amid the escalation of the Iran war, a partial government shutdown involving the Department of Homeland Security, backlash over federal immigration officers’ fatal shootings of two citizens and efforts to impose tariffs.

No Kings 3’s intent remains the same as the past two rallies, albeit with more issues that have come up since the last event.

“The focus remains the same: protesting Trump’s attempts to assume dictatorial powers through authoritarian actions that have only increased in number and violence,” Jamie Gold, a coordinator for Indivisible Do Something Alexandria, told ALXnow.

Organizers are working to allow registrants to choose which block they will stand on. Indivisible Do Something Alexandria volunteers will be stationed at Neighborhood Park (2401 Main Line Blvd.) and Powhatan Park (1010 Douglas Street).

“We expect the signs that participants will wave on March 28 will highlight all the acts of cruelty and lawlessness, including the brutality of masked federal immigration agents occupying U.S. cities, leading to deaths and disruption; this war of choice with Iran and the threats of more wars; the attempts at voter suppression; and the attacks on our 1st amendment rights,” Gold said.

Indivisible Do Something Alexandria says it is working with local authorities to keep the protests peaceful. Organizers ask attendees to de-escalate conflicts and avoid bringing weapons to the event.

According to organizers, over 5 million people across the U.S. attended “No Kings” rallies in June 2025, and over 7 million joined the second events in October.

“Despite the alarming circumstances that have given rise to the need to hold such events, our protesters have shown appreciation, even joy, at the opportunity to join together in a visible show of nonviolent resistance,” Gold said.
