AHD offering local business ‘Cupid Coupons’ to sexual and reproductive health patients

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the Alexandria Health Department is partnering with a dozen local businesses to offer discounts customers who book a sexual or reproductive health appointment this month.

AHD is offering 5% “Cupid Coupons,” valid for up to $10 off at 12 local businesses to customers who book the appointments during the February Love Safely and Save promotion.

“February is a month of love,” AHD Director Dr. David Rose said in a release. “Sexual and reproductive healthcare is essential for self-care and healthy relationships. We want people to reflect on their health, talk openly with partners, and take advantage of local resources.”

The following appointments are eligible for a coupon, according to AHD.

  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and treatment
  • Cervical cancer screenings & well-woman visits
  • Birth control counseling or administration
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Emergency contraception pick-up

Alexandria has some of the highest rates of sexually transmitted infection in Virginia, according to AHD, and rates have steadily risen over the past decade.

“Getting a free STI test is the only way to know if you have an STI,” Rose said. “Plus, with local businesses getting on board, we hope that this uplifts the importance of sexual health across our entire city.”

Where to use your Cupid Coupon

Coupons will be redeemable through March 31. Interested local businesses can join the program throughout the month and email [email protected] for more information.
