Condemned townhouse returned to homeowner after Monday basement fire in West End

No injuries were reported after the Alexandria Fire Department extinguished a townhouse basement fire in the West End yesterday (Monday).

Fire crews arrived at the 6000 block of Morgan Court at around 8:30 a.m. to find a smoke-filled basement and a flaming electrical panel, according to a Facebook post from the International Association of Firefighters Local 2141.

Firefighters accessed the Beauregard Manor home through the front door and ventilated the home through the roof. The fire was extinguished after a power company arrived and secured the panel, AFD spokesperson Taylor King told ALXnow.

The basement experienced moderate fire damage, while the first and second floors had minimal smoke damage, King said.

“Due to the damage, the home was condemned, though it was ultimately turned back over to the homeowner,” King said.
