Man transported to hospital Sunday after accidental shooting in Seminary Hill

First responders transported a man to the hospital early Sunday morning after he accidentally shot himself in the leg in Seminary Hill, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The 23-year-old man sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital from an apartment parking lot at the 4600 block of Seminary Road, according to APD dispatches.

A man called police just before midnight to report that his cousin was shot by an unknown man who fled the scene in a dark-colored Dodge Charger. Police found a gun at the scene and later said via dispatch that the man shot himself in the leg in his vehicle, and that no one else was involved.

This is the second accidental shooting in Alexandria over the past week. Last Friday, a 43-year-old man told police that he accidentally shot himself while placing a firearm into his pocket in the 2800 block of Telek Place.
