Discounts, activities, raffles and more are coming to the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center this month to celebrate the facility’s 40th anniversary.
All December long, residents can receive a 15% discount on passes at the center on 3210 King Street. More festivities kick off this Saturday, promising “four weeks of fun, fitness, and freebies,” according to a city announcement.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate 40 years of serving the Alexandria community, and we want YOU to join the fun all month long!” the announcement reads. “This December, enjoy exclusive discounts, free activities, raffles, and special opportunities as our way of saying thank you for four decades of fitness, fun, and connection.”

Dec. 6-12
- Free program demos are available starting Dec. 6, including classes like tabata and “water walking”
- $30 30-day passes to the facility’s fitness room and pool are available, limited to one individual per purchase and available only to first-time passholders.
Dec. 13-19
- Free access to Chinquapin’s soft playroom, racquetball courts and fitness room.
- The playroom and courts are available for drop-in use or by reservation, and availability can be confirmed by calling 703-746-5553. No reservations are required for the fitness room.
Dec. 20-26
- Families can swim for free during “Family Swim Time.” Designated hours are available to view on the center’s website.
Dec. 27-31
- Guests can fill out raffle cards each day they visit Chinquapin for a chance to win a free fitness class of their choosing. Five winners will be drawn Dec. 31.
