Del Ray Pop-Up Bar plans Christmas-themed reopening in two weeks

Get your Santa hat ready, because the Del Ray Pop-Up Bar plans to reopen with a Christmas-themed “Joy on the Avenue” concept in two weeks.

The bar aims to return during the weekend of Friday, Nov. 21 at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue, replacing its spooky “Nightmare on the Avenue” pop-up that closed after Halloween, owner Bill Blackburn told ALXnow.

“We’re excited to bring this back,” Blackburn said. “The Christmas theme was our very first pop-up in the space. Every year we try to do it a little bit better, and we’re aiming to open the weekend before Thanksgiving to bring in holiday cheer.”

It’s the holiday-themed bar’s fifth year operating, and Blackburn said customers can expect a new menu, over-the-top decor, top-notch craft cocktails, charcuterie boards and Christmas-themed bites.

In previous years, the menu has included a variety of Christmas movie-inspired cocktails, appetizers and desserts, including “Rudolph’s Bavarian pretzel” with queso dip, “Buddy the Elf” turkey sliders with cranberry sauce and “Merrygraritas” with Lunazul, pomegranate juice, lime, agave and triple sec.

The wintery pop-up will remain until early January and conclude with an annual “Festivus” party.

The pop-up will reopen in late February with a yet-to-be-determined concept. This year, it was home to a popular Taylor Swift theme from February to July.
