The Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library is launching a four-week cultural exchange program that will culminate in a virtual meeting between Alexandria students and their counterparts in Seoul, South Korea.
“Stories without Borders: Hello, Seoul!” begins Monday at 6 p.m. at the library’s Story Room and runs through Nov. 10. The program, designed for students in grades 3-5, features weekly sessions exploring Korean culture through stories, crafts, and games.
Each Monday session from 6-7 p.m. will offer different activities, according to the Alexandria Library. The program meets Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 10, and will conclude with a special live Zoom event connecting local participants with children from Seoul.
The South Korean Library Association is co-sponsoring the program. Registration is preferred, and participants must register for all four sessions. Details about the final Zoom session will be provided to enrolled participants.
The program is part of the library’s Stories without Borders initiative, which aims to introduce young readers to cultures from around the world.
