The Alexandria City High School football team fell to Fairfax 14-7 on Friday night, unable to score after jumping out to an early lead in a conference matchup between District 4 opponents.
Alexandria City (5-2, 2-2) scored seven points in the first quarter to take a 7-6 lead, but was held scoreless over the final three quarters. Fairfax (4-3, 3-1) responded with eight points in the third quarter to take a 14-7 advantage and shut down the Titans’ offense in the fourth to secure the victory.
The loss is the second consecutive for Alexandria City, which fell to West Potomac 21-20 at home on Oct. 10 after opening the season with five straight wins.
District standings
The result moves Fairfax into a tie for second place in District 4 with a 3-1 conference record, while Alexandria City drops to fourth place at 2-2.
West Springfield leads the district with a perfect 4-0 conference record and 5-2 overall mark. Lake Braddock sits in second at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in district play, tied with Fairfax and South County at 3-1 in conference competition.
Alexandria City’s 2-2 district record puts them ahead of West Potomac (1-3), Robinson (0-4), and Woodson (0-4) in the standings.
Season summary
The Titans opened 2025 with five consecutive victories, including a 32-0 forfeit win over Lake Braddock, followed by wins against Potomac Senior (42-6), Crossland (42-8), Lewis (71-0) and Woodson (23-21).
Through seven games, Alexandria City has outscored opponents 205-102.
Upcoming schedule
Alexandria City returns home for homecoming against Robinson on Friday, Oct. 24. The Titans then host West Springfield on Oct. 31 for Senior Night before closing the regular season at South County on Nov. 7.
Robinson enters next week’s matchup with a 2-5 overall record and 0-4 district mark. West Springfield and South County are both currently ahead of Alexandria City in the district standings.
