Alexandria will host its first-ever Breast Cancer 5K at Lake Cook in Cameron Run Regional Park next month.

Participants can walk or run at the October 5 event at 4001 Eisenhower Avenue, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration costs $25 per person and is open for anyone ages 10 and up, according to the city’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.

“Alexandria is coming together for a powerful cause,” the city said in a release. “This new event is more than a walk or run—it’s a chance to raise awareness, celebrate survivors, and honor those we’ve lost. Whether you’re running for time, walking with friends, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps shine a light of hope and solidarity in our city.”

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The city stated that the funds raised will be allocated toward breast cancer research and education.
