The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum will host a free classic car show Sept. 20 featuring dozens of vintage vehicles, including rare models from defunct manufacturers.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the museum’s parking lot at 201 S. Washington St. in Old Town.
Co-sponsored by Packards Virginia and the Office of Historic Alexandria, the event will showcase Packards from the 1930s through 1950s alongside other “orphan” vehicles — cars made by companies no longer in business.
Featured vehicles include a 1933 Packard Coupe Roadster, 1934 Packard Formal Sedan and 1940 Packard Convertible Sedan. Other highlights include a 1934 Hudson Terraplane Coupe, 1953 Morgan, 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk, 1967 Pontiac GTO, 1970 Oldsmobile 98, 1970 DeTomaso Pantera and 1988 Austin Mini.
Visitors can also explore the museum’s exhibitions on Alexandria’s history and browse the gift shop during the event.
The show provides an opportunity to see well-preserved classics and unique rarities up close, organizers said.
