It’s four years away from opening, but a senior living community in Alexandria’s West End is opening its sales center later this month.

The City Council unanimously approved the $340 million Goodwin House Seminary Road project in June. Construction of the two-towered, 14- to 16-story apartment building with 257 units is anticipated to be completed in 2029. The property will feature “217 independent living apartments, 16 assisted living apartments, a dedicated memory care area and a Medicare/Medicaid-certified health care center offering skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and a state-of-the-art rehab center,” according to Goodwin Living.

The sales center is located at 1800 N. Beauregard Street, Suite 101. The opening will be held on Aug. 27 (Wednesday) from 4:30 to 6 p.m., with the program and ribbon cutting to be held at 5 p.m. Speakers include Goodwin Living CEO Rob Liebreich; Goodwin Living Board of Trustees chair Dr. Cyrillene “C.C.’ Clark; Chamber ALX CEO Joe Haggerty and Alexandria Economic and Development Partnership CEO Stephanie Landrum.

According to Goodwin Living:

Goodwin House Seminary Road is also expected to deliver a major economic boost to the Alexandria region. The project will:

  • Create more than 250 permanent jobs across dining services, facilities management, programming and amenities, clinical care, wellness, and business operations, including finance, technology, marketing, human resources and supply chain
  • Engage more than 50 local businesses
  • Generate over 1,200 full-time equivalent construction jobs across firms specializing in construction, engineering, land use and materials supply
  • Generate more than $150 million for local businesses.
  • Once operational, Goodwin House Seminary Road is expected to contribute nearly $20 million annually in local economic impact
