The Alexandria Democratic Committee announced Tuesday in a newsletter to supporters that it will host its annual Labor Day picnic at a new indoor-outdoor venue this year, marking a shift from previous outdoor-only locations to ensure the event remains accessible regardless of weather conditions.
The picnic is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Garden Alexandria, located at 5380 Eisenhower Ave. in Alexandria.
“In 2025, we’re moving to a new indoor/outdoor location to make our annual picnic weatherproof and accessible to all,” the committee stated in the newsletter sent Tuesday evening.
The event will feature special guests including U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins, and former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Michael Fanone, who gained national attention for his role defending the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack.
Tickets are priced at $25 for adults, with children 12 and under admitted free. The venue will provide free parking for attendees.

The committee said the event will include “delicious food, ice cream, great speakers, and a good old-fashioned celebration of Labor,” with organizers planning to grill both meat and vegetarian hot dogs and burgers. Attendees can volunteer for setup or contribute sides and desserts through an online sign-up form.
The Alexandria Democratic Committee is also seeking event sponsors at three levels with corresponding benefits. History Makers sponsors ($200) receive name or logo placement on event signage, recognition at the event and online, plus two tickets. Ice Cream Sponsors ($100) get recognition at the event and online, along with two tickets. Celebrate Labor Sponsors ($50) receive recognition at the event and online with one ticket included.
The ticketing system, managed through ActBlue, allows supporters who cannot attend to make contributions instead of purchasing tickets. All contributions must comply with federal election law requirements, including U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status and personal funding sources.
The annual Labor Day picnic has traditionally served as one of the committee’s signature events, bringing together Democratic officials, activists, and supporters to celebrate the labor movement while building community connections ahead of election seasons.
Residents interested in attending can purchase tickets online. The ticketing platform requires attendees to provide names of all guests, including children, for accurate headcount purposes. Questions about the event can be directed to [email protected].
