19 Alexandria businesses make Inc. 5000 list, led by Artemis ARC at No. 34

Alexandria businesses dominated Virginia’s representation on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies, with 19 local firms earning spots on the annual ranking released Tuesday.

Artemis ARC, a service-disabled, veteran-owned consulting firm, led the Alexandria contingent at No. 34 nationally with a staggering 6,648% three-year revenue growth rate. The federal consulting firm became the highest-ranking Virginia company on this year’s Inc. 5000 list and the only business from the commonwealth to crack the top 100.

Founded by Luke Sturges, a former Explosive Detection Canine Handler and Security Professional, Artemis ARC made its first appearance on the Inc. 5000 after reporting revenue in the $10 million to $25 million range in 2024. The company describes itself as helping federal agencies improve communication, make data-driven decisions, and operate more efficiently through “practical tools, sharp analysis, and hands-on experience.”

Akiak Technology, an Alaska tribal-owned IT consulting and services company based in Alexandria, secured the No. 106 spot nationally, achieving 3,250% growth and revenues between $25 million and $50 million. The company marked Alexandria’s second entry in the top 200 performers.

The city’s strong showing continued throughout the rankings, with WILCO GROUP claiming No. 510, achieving 791% growth in IT services, followed by MovementX at No. 683, with 609% growth in healthcare and medical services. Government services contractor BryceTech rounded out the top five Alexandria companies at No. 915 with 463% growth.

Alexandria’s entrepreneurial strength extended deep into the Inc. 5000 rankings. OneZero Solutions, another government services firm, ranked No. 985 with 434% growth, while environmental services company Avanti Corporation came in at No. 2,539 with 166% growth. IT services provider Logistics Systems earned the No. 2,688 spot with 155% growth, and government contractor Aptive landed at No. 2,983 with 137% growth.

The Inc. 5000, published annually by Inc.com, ranks privately held, for-profit U.S. companies based on percentage revenue growth from 2021 to 2024. Companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2021, with minimum revenue requirements of $100,000 in 2021 and $2 million in 2024. Together, this year’s 5,000 honorees generated $300 billion in revenue in 2024.

Alexandria’s 19 companies represent nearly 7% of the 277 Virginia businesses that made the list, demonstrating the city’s outsized impact on the state’s fastest-growing company ecosystem. The local firms span diverse industries, including government services, IT, healthcare, environmental services, advertising and marketing, travel and hospitality, and business services, showcasing Alexandria’s varied entrepreneurial landscape.
