The Alexandria A Cappella Collective will travel to Ireland Aug. 4-12 for a concert tour featuring performances in Galway, Cork and Dublin alongside Irish choruses.
The internationally acclaimed organization includes two choruses: the Harmonizers, formerly known as the Alexandria Harmonizers, and Metro Voices. Both groups will perform at three venues during the nine-day tour.
The tour opens Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. at St. Nicolas Collegiate Church in Galway, where AACC will be joined by Tone Cold Sober, a Sligo-based chorus. Tickets remain available through the St. Nicolas website.
On Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m., the collective will perform at St. Peter’s in Bandon, County Cork, with local groups Munster Mix, Champagne Cork Women’s Chorus, Kinsale Voices and East Cork Barbershoppers. That concert is sold out.
The tour concludes Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lark Concert Hall at Dublin’s Irish Institute of Music and Song. Special guests include Blingmasters, Lady Barbalade and Harmony Foundation. Tickets are available via the Lark website.
AACC will donate concert proceeds to local Irish charities.
“I am thrilled that AACC is coming to Ireland,” said Joe Cerutti, AACC artistic director and musical director for the Harmonizers. “Having worked with several Irish choruses and quartets over the years, I have long admired their musicianship and passion for barbershop.”
Cerutti’s relationships with Irish barbershop organizations served as the catalyst for the tour.
Anthony Colosimo, the Harmonizers’ associate director, said the tour represents a personal milestone. His paternal grandmother was Irish.
“Touring in Ireland is a dream come true, for the chorus as a whole, and for me personally,” said Colosimo, who also sings lead in First Take, a quartet that has garnered more than 1.2 million views on YouTube.
For Metro Voices Director Samantha Tramack, the tour marks both her first trip to Ireland and Metro Voices’ first international tour since the group’s establishment in 2023.
“Irish music is such an indelible part of American culture, so to be able to share barbershop music in Ireland is an incredible privilege,” Tramack said.
AACC is a nonprofit umbrella organization based in Alexandria with a mission of enriching lives through vocal harmony in the greater Washington area. Members have performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap.
The Harmonizers, in their 77-year history, have won 19 international medals, including four gold medal championships. Metro Voices has won two championships since its founding.
