Alexandria Fire Department assists in extinguishing two-alarm blazes in Kingstowne and Springfield

The Alexandria Fire Department assisted in extinguishing two-alarm fires in Fairfax County this morning (July 23).

No injuries were reported in the early morning fires at three townhouses in Kingstowne and at Anytime Fitness (6400 Brandon Avenue) in Springfield’s Tower Shopping Center.

The Kingstowne fire was reported at around 4:45 a.m., at the Coventry townhomes in the 5000 block of Dunstable Lane, according to FFXnow.

“Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of multiple townhomes,” the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department posted on Instagram. “Crews quickly went to work to extinguish the fire and search the homes.”

The Alexandria Firefighters IAFF Local 2141 reported on Facebook that crews “arrived with fire in three townhomes and would work for several hours to extinguish all the fire.”

Minutes after the fire was reported, AFD responded to a the two-alarm fire in Springfield.

“Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of a strip mall,” FCFRD said on Instagram. “Crews quickly began working to extinguish the fire.”

The cause of the fires has not been released, and FBFRD said that fire investigators were at both scenes.
