🚨 You need to know
The city of Alexandria is asking residents to help shape the historical displays planned for its renovated City Hall through an online survey, which closes on August 29.
The fifth community engagement series focuses on storytelling themes for exhibits in City Hall and Market Square. Officials are seeking public input on topics ranging from Alexandria’s founding to its neighborhoods and community identities.
The current City Hall, built in 1871, houses more than 300 city employees. The renovation addresses aging building components, security improvements, and space optimization, according to the city’s website, updated July 14.
City officials said the project aims to create displays that reflect Alexandria’s past, present, and future while enhancing community engagement in the historic building.
Residents can participate in the survey to guide decisions about which stories will be featured and how visitors will experience the exhibits in the renovated spaces.

Series #5 Community Engagement and SURVEY
The journey to reimagine City Hall, Market Square, and Garage Renovation is still going and as before we want YOU to be part of it!
Join us for the fifth series of community engagement focused on storytelling at City Hall. This is your chance to shape how Alexandria’s stories — past, present, and future — are told through future displays and exhibits in City Hall and Market Square.
During this series, you can:
- Help plan new displays and storytelling themes for City Hall and Market Square
- Share your voice on what topics matter most — from Alexandria’s founding and civic life to public art, neighborhoods, and community identities
- Take our online survey to guide what stories should be told and how they should be experienced
Together, let’s create a space that reflects the full story of Alexandria — one that honors the past, reflects our present, and welcomes the future. The survey closes on August 29, at midnight! Don’t miss out — your voice matters!
