Alexandria Aces (14-9) right-handed pitcher Connor Hutchinson etched his name into franchise history Sunday night, throwing the first no-hitter in the team’s 20-year existence during a 7-0 victory over the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (12-13) at Blair Baseball Stadium.
The Ball State University sophomore dominated from start to finish, striking out seven batters while allowing zero hits and zero runs over seven complete innings.
“History made! The first no-hitter in Alexandria Aces history!” the team posted on social media following the game. The milestone achievement adds another chapter to the storied legacy of Frank Mann Field, the former home of the minor league Alexandria Dukes.

Perfect Timing for Historic Performance
Hutchinson’s no-hitter comes at an ideal time for the Aces, who have been one of the hottest teams in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. At one point, Alexandria sat at 3-6 and was riding a three-game losing streak. Since then, the Aces have won nine of their last 12 contests.
The sophomore pitcher has been having a strong 2025 season for Ball State, helping lead the Cardinals to series victories earlier this year. His dominant performance Sunday night showcased the type of talent that has made the Aces regular season CRSCBL champions for the past three years and league champions in 2022.
Looking Ahead
With the regular season continuing through July 21, Hutchinson’s no-hitter provides significant momentum for the Aces as they pursue another championship. The team is in its 20th season as a member of the Cal Ripken Sr. League and has consistently been among the league’s elite programs.
Home games are played at Frank Mann Field (3700 Commonwealth Ave.), with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tickets for Aces games are available at the front gate or online, priced at $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
The Thunderbolts, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from the historic shutout loss as they continue their own 25th-anniversary season in the league.
The Alexandria Aces’ next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, when they host the Southern Maryland Senators at Frank Mann Field. For tickets and more information, visit alexandriaaces.org.
