
Juveniles have been identified as the suspects behind an assault by mob in Old Town North that resulted in a man’s death.
The victim, later identified as 54-year-old John Andreadakis, was lying down in the community room of The Bloom apartment building at 900 N. Henry Street at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, when seven suspects were captured on surveillance video walking into the room, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
“The victim stood up and approached one of the suspects,” according to the search warrant affidavit. “Subsequently, (the victim) was repeatedly kicked and punched by several subjects. The subjects left the community room after the assault. All of the subjects appeared to be juveniles or young adults.”
After the assault, Andreadakis went to a friend’s apartment, where he later went unconscious. At around 3:30 a.m., the friend called police to report that his friend was unresponsive, and police and fire personnel found the victim with injuries to his nose and forehead, according to the search warrant affidavit.
Andreadakis was pronounced dead at around 5 a.m., according to the search warrant affidavit.
Multiple suspects have been identified. The primary suspect, a middle school student in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, went to APD headquarters with his father on May 5, according to the search warrant affidavit. The juvenile identified himself in surveillance video shown to him by police, and “admitted to being involved in the assault of (the victim), according to the search warrant affidavit.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is active.
