Alexandria police investigate early morning gunfire at Ben Brenman Park

No injuries after multiple gunshots were reported early this morning in the area of Ben Brenman Park in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Police Department was alerted of four gunshots in the area of the park at around 2:20 a.m.

According to an APD dispatch:

The incident happened over by 4600 Duke Street in the area near Ben Brenman Park. Individuals were walking a dog, passed an individual on the trail that, when they got over by the baseball fields, fired four rounds in their direction. They could hear the projectiles whizzing past them.

The suspect is described as an unknown race male wearing all-black clothing and a ski mask.

During their search, APD also heard two additional gunshots. A Fairfax County Police Department helicopter was used in the search, as was an APD K9 officer.
