🚨 You need to know

The City of Alexandria is introducing a new program to boost electric vehicle use in multi-family housing. The Plug In Alexandria initiative, from the Office of Climate Action, offers expert advice and financial support to install EV chargers in condos, apartments, and other shared living spaces.

The program provides a full support package, including on-site assessments and financial incentives. Eligible applicants can get back 30% of their EV charger installation costs, up to $10,000. Communities in low-income areas might qualify for up to $15,000 in support.

The city reviews applications as they come in, giving out funding while it’s available. The first application deadline is June 20, 2025.

To get started, participating communities receive a visit from an engineering firm. This assessment outlines what’s needed, if it’s doable, and how much it might cost to install EV chargers on the property.

Want to learn more or apply? Check out the Plug In Alexandria website. The program is open to condo associations, HOAs, and apartment owners or managers.
