Alexandria choirs unite for inaugural ‘One Voice’ festival

Eight local choirs are coming together for the first-ever One Voice Alexandria Choir Festival on May 9, 2025. The event, hosted by the Alexandria Choral Society, kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall.

This festival marks the end of Alexandria Choral Society’s 55th season with a bang, bringing together about 450 singers from across the city.

Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins is set to host the event as master of ceremonies.

The lineup includes a diverse mix of local talent:
– Alexandria A Cappella Collective
– Alexandria City High School Advanced Choir
– Alexandria Singers
– NOVA Community Chorus
– George Washington Middle School Concert Choir
– Alexandria Children’s Chorus
– Choristers of Westminster Presbyterian Church

Each choir will take the stage for individual performances before joining forces for three collaborative pieces:
– “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima
– “Thank You for the Music” by ABBA
– “A Unified Prayer” by Alexandria’s own B.E. Boykin

Before the concert and during intermission, local vendors will be on hand showcasing Alexandria-centered businesses and music organizations.
