The Alexandria Fire Department has earned accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, a part of the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
James Parajon, the City Manager, says this shows Alexandria’s dedication to top-notch public safety and always improving fire and emergency services.
“This achievement reflects our commitment to excellence in public safety and continuous improvement in the delivery of fire and emergency services in our city,” said City Manager James Parajon in a statement.
The CFAI accreditation process examines fire departments using performance indicators in 11 different areas to ensure they meet public safety standards.
Fire Chief Felipe Hernandez sees this as clear proof of the AFD team’s professionalism and commitment to serving the community, saying in a statement that this “represents a clear and powerful validation of the professionalism, dedication, and commitment AFD members bring to our mission of serving the community by protecting lives, property, and the environment every day.”
To get accredited, fire departments must conduct a thorough self-assessment. Then, a team of peers from other accredited departments comes in to verify everything.
The Alexandria Fire Department also shared the news on social media, praising its members for their hard work and dedication to public safety, which made this possible.
