Sunday, April 6, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Volunteer on Good Deeds Day — Volunteer Alexandria is teaming up with the City of Alexandria’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Activities to help clean up the Mt Jefferson Park & Greenway.
Monday, April 7, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Discover Emergency Preparedness Opportunities in Alexandria — Join Volunteer Alexandria for an information session on the opportunities available if a disaster strikes.
Friday, April 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Volunteer to Distribute Food — Volunteer with the Department of Community and Human Services to sort, organize, and distribute food to neighbors in need.
Volunteer during Spring Break — Students in grades 6 through 12 can volunteer and get involved in issues affecting their community in Volunteer Alexandria’s service-learning program. Registration is open for April 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, and 24.
Share Your Skills with Students — Sheltercare is a youth program that is seeking volunteers to lead Life Skills Classes in subjects such as job readiness, sewing, culinary, financial literacy, or other skills that you would like to share.
Pick-Up Items for a Flea Market Fundraiser — The Big Flea is a fundraising effort that supports the Mount Vernon Community School. The Big Flea is calling for volunteers to pick up items and deliver them to their storage unit. Pick-up times are flexible.
Help Marketing Efforts for a Nonprofit — Liberty’s Promise is a nonprofit that prepares first generation students for their future careers and to get involved in their community. They are looking for a Marketing and Communications Volunteer to contribute to their social media and email campaigns, develop content for their newsletter, and update online materials.
Teach People How to Repair Jewelry — The Alexandria Library is hosting a Fixit Clinic in May. The Library is seeking volunteers who can attempt to repair and teach people how to repair jewelry.
