BREAKING: Arson, burglary investigation underway after Duke Street fire; police seek leads

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating last Sunday morning’s fire, which affected multiple businesses in the 5200 block of Duke Street, as a commercial robbery and arson.

As previously reported, multiple businesses were affected when the fire started at Diko Bar & Hookah Lounge (5243 Duke Street).

The Alexandria Fire Department was alerted of the fire just before 6 a.m., and found the fire in a closet and the kitchen of Diko Bar & Hookah Lounge, according to radio dispatches.

According to APD:

On Sunday, March 30, the Alexandria Police Department responded to the 5200 block of Duke Street for the report of a commercial burglary and arson. In conjunction with the Alexandria Fire Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office, APD is conducting a criminal investigation that is ongoing. No arrests have been made as of this writing.
