Notes: Alexandria Chamber to host breakfast with General Assembly delegation

2025 General Assembly Breakfast (via Alexandria Chamber of Commerce)

The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 2025 General Assembly Breakfast on Thursday, March 20. This event allows local business leaders to connect with state legislators and discuss important issues affecting Virginia.

Transurban is presenting the breakfast, featuring a panel of state legislators, including (as of March 12) Sen. Adam Ebbin, Majority Leader Del. Charniele Herring, Del. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, and Del. Alfonso Lopez. The breakfast, which will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at the National Industries for the Blind, aims to spark conversations about the opportunities and challenges of the 2025 legislative session.

To maximize this interactive event, the Chamber is asking attendees to send in their questions ahead of time to Maria Ciarrocchi at [email protected].

Speaking of awards, The Alexandria Commission on Aging (COA) is seeking nominations for its annual Excellence in Aging Awards. The submission deadline is Wednesday, April 2 at 5 p.m.

The COA created the awards to honor individuals — regardless of age — and an organization that has provided service to older Alexandrians or demonstrated superior contributions in advancing issues and projects that favorably affect older Alexandrians.

Award winners will be recognized in four award categories:

  • Annie B. Rose Lifetime Award – Presented to an individual who has served seniors for at least 10 years.
  • Lois Van Valkenburgh Excellence in Aging Award – Presented to an individual citizen with at least one year of service to seniors.
  • Excellence in Aging Award for an Organization – Presented to an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to Alexandria seniors.
  • Public Service Award – Presented to a City employee who has advanced, improved or otherwise contributed to making Alexandria a more livable community for all ages during the course of their job.
