Alexandria-based Goodwin Living expands to DC with Forest Hills affiliation

Goodwin Living, a senior care organization based in Alexandria, is joining forces with Forest Hills of DC (FHDC), a nonprofit senior living provider in Washington, D.C.

While FHDC will keep its separate corporate status, it’s getting a new name: “Forest Hills of DC by Goodwin Living.”

“Forest Hills of DC represents an organization focused on excellent care for those they serve, an excellent place to work and an organization which understands the importance of innovation,” shared Rob Liebreich, Goodwin Living President and CEO in a statement. “Forest Hills of DC has a remarkable legacy of serving a diverse community of older adults and together, we will be better able to support the D.C. community for generations to come.”

Since May 2024, Goodwin Living has been managing FHDC’s operations. This partnership aims to boost resident programs, increase occupancy, and strengthen FHDC’s market position.

“The Forest Hills of DC Board of Directors has been focused on ensuring a strong and vibrant future for Forest Hills of DC,” said Isabella Firth-Shycoff, FHDC Board Chair in a statement. “The common histories, culture and commitment to resident quality of life of our respective organizations and their team members affirmed for the FHDC Board that an affiliation with Goodwin Living would richly unite our mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations.”

Located in D.C.’s Forest Hills neighborhood, FHDC offers assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services to about 100 older adults. It has 51 assisted living apartments and 55 skilled nursing suites, with a team of 122 employees and roughly 30 on-site business partners.

Goodwin Living owns and operates two senior living communities in Alexandria – Goodwin House Alexandria (4800 Fillmore Ave.) and The View Alexandria (5000 Fairbanks Ave.), and one in Falls Church – Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads, that are home to nearly 1,200 older adults. Goodwin Living also owns and operates a home health agency (Goodwin Home Health), a rehab agency (Goodwin Rehabilitation), an age at home program (Goodwin Living At Home), a home care program (Goodwin Home Care), and a hospice program (Goodwin Hospice).
