MetroStage is bringing “Soulful Serenade: An Evening with Robert E. Person” to the Alexandria History Museum at the Lyceum on Monday, March 10 at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature a mix of jazz standards, popular classics, show tunes, and a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. Person’s soulful vocals will be backed by a three-piece combo and background singers. The musical lineup includes Allyn Johnson on piano, Herman Burney on bass, and Quincy Phillips on drums. Background vocalists Chad Gilbert, Ronnette Rollins, and Sherice Williams will join Person on stage.
This show is part of the ongoing “MetroStage at the Lyceum” series, which keeps audiences engaged while the theater is between permanent venues. MetroStage is in the final stretch of fundraising for its new theater space in Alexandria’s Old Town North neighborhood. The venue will be part of a 13-story condo development called the Venue. The theater has raised over $2 million so far but needs about $3 million to finish the renovation.
Tickets for “Soulful Serenade: An Evening with Robert E. Person” are $30 and can be purchased through MetroStage’s website. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.
