Virginia Tech Innovation Campus holding grand opening celebration in Potomac Yard this Friday

A month after classes officially started at the new Virginia Tech campus in Potomac Yard, the new school is hosting its grand opening celebration.

The ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and the event will be livestreamed.

The event is scheduled to include a keynote address from President and CEO of Wellcome Leap Regina Dugan, a Virginia Tech alumna and former director of DARPA.

The event site noted that parking is limited and encouraged attendees to come via the Potomac Yard-VT Metro station less than a block away.

The Virginia Tech campus broke ground in 2021. A three building campus is planned, with the first building coming online being an 11-story, 300,000 square-foot academic building.
