Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire, sworn in last month, is meeting with community members in a series of public meetings to discuss past and current issues facing the city.
In a release, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) said the meetings are part of “fulfilling his promise to gain a deeper understanding of historical challenges and urgent matters that need immediate attention within his first 100 days as Chief of the Alexandria Police Department (APD).”
The first of the upcoming meetings is tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. at the Kate Waller Barrett Library (717 Queen Street).
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 6-7 p.m. at the Duncan Branch Library (2501 Commonwealth Avenue).
According to the release:
At previous Community Conversation sessions, residents voiced concerns about neighborhood street and pedestrian safety, school safety, and quality of life issues. Members of the APD Command staff and patrol officers have joined in the three internal listening sessions held earlier in Chief McGuire’s first 100 days.
Members of the community are encouraged to attend and participate in the Community Conversations and engage directly with Chief Tarrick McGuire.
