Update 1/9 — The Health Department is postponing the event to Saturday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. due to impending snow on Saturday
The Alexandria Health Department is hosting a “Walk & Talk” this weekend in the Braddock neighborhood to talk about health issues in the community.
City staff will be available to collect feedback from local residents on the biggest issues in their community.
“Your community, your voice,” an event listing said. “Join us on a short walk around Parker Gray/Braddock Metro Area to talk about our neighborhood and how it shapes our health. City staff will be there to hear your feedback on how we can make a difference in our community today and in the future.”
The talk is part of the ongoing City Health Assessment which reviews factors affecting the community like “structural racism and all forms of discrimination, along with neighborhood factors such as housing, parks, and grocery stores.”
According to the event listing:
Your anonymous feedback informs the City’s Community Health Assessment, helps prioritize new projects, and drives City agency action so that they can address existing problems.
Accessible routes for all ages and mobilities. Hot cocoa, coffee, and sweet treats provided. We can’t wait to see you there!
Please RSVP.
